Services Include:
- Help Property owners set goals for Landscape development
- Site evaluation to determine landscape management needs based on property owner’s goals for a site
- Development of landscape management specifications for a specific site. Assist with the “Request for Proposals and Bid process”. Assist with review of proposals to ensure property owners are comparing “apples to apples”
- Water conservation evaluation and plan based on best management practices. Prioritize irrigation needs during drought periods and suggest water saving ideas
- Conduct regular site inspections and general punch list and follow-up with service providers
- Help to improve communications between owners and service providers and strive to create a partnership that results in a quality landscape
- Review of landscape plans from a Horticultural perspective. Make recommendations and work with landscape architects to get the best plant choices for a location
- Generally represent owner’s best interest while maintaining a professional relationship with service providers
About Dave Bradford
Dave Bradford has over 40 years of experience as a horticulturist in Alabama and the Mid-South region of the US. He has an extensive background as a horticultural educator with the Alabama Cooperative Extension System. That experience combined with business experience in the landscape industry provides a broader prospective into the problems and challenges of creating a high quality landscape development.
Dave has served as Cooperative System Agent in ornamental horticulture, Extension Administrator, various roles in professional organizations such as the Alabama Nursery and Landscape Association, retail garden center operation and the landscape design / build / install and maintenance industry.

- Alabama Certified Nursery Professional - 1979 to Present
- Commercial Pesticide Applicator, Turf and Ornamental Pest Control, State of Alabama, State of Tennessee - 1967 to Present
- State of Alabama Professional Services Permits for setting and maintenance of landscape plants, landscape design, turf & ornamental pest control, and research and demonstration

Consulting & Professional Activties
- Horticulturist, Landscape Services, Inc. Birmingham, AL. Specific duties included Quality Control, Landscape Maintenance Bidding/Estimating, Solving plant, turf and landscape problems, Customer Relations, Recruiting Landscape Maintenance Staff, and Managing Safety and Security Programs. Served as an ‘In House Consultant’. Several site projects worked, including Birmingham Southern College, City of Mountain Brook, AmSouth Headquarters, Primus (Ford Motor Credit) located in Nashville, TN, among others
- Landscape Consultant for the Inverness Development (managed by Taylor & Mathis, Atlanta, GA). This included landscape and turf management as well as landscape design, purchase and installation.
- Served on the Landscape Consultant Team for Downtown Birmingham Redevelopment Plan.
- Landscape Advisor to contractors in the Landscape Development Projects for the Birmingham/Jefferson Civic Center, South Central Bell, and Alabama Power Company.
- Landscape Consultant to several private homes and estates in Alabama and Georgia.
- Developed several Television program news spots, etc., for horticultural education in the Birmingham area.
- Regular weekly live TV spots on evening news related to gardening (15 years).
- Regular weekly gardening column in the old Birmingham Post Herald (23 years).
- Participated in conducting a one-hour weekly call-in talk radio show on gardening in the Birmingham area (approximately 15 years).
- Served on the Board of the Gulf States Horticultural Expo.
- Wrote monthly gardening article for “Lake Martin Living” magazine for three years.

- Birmingham Green “Plant Days” in Downtown (several years)
- Farm City Week in Jefferson County (assisted several years)
- The first ANA Trade Show in Birmingham in mid 1970’s
